Dress Code and Uniform Specifications

Any violation of the dress code will result in parents being called to bring proper attire immediately.

No designer labels or insignias may show on any item of clothing. No article of clothing (including jackets and T-shirts) should display a picture of skull/crossbones, ads for liquor or cigarettes or any musical group name whose language is suggestive. The rule will hold for "free dress" days also. If T-shirts are worn under the uniform shirt, the T-shirt must be white with no writing on it.

All items of clothing should be clearly marked with the child's name.

ALL students must wear a black, brown, or navy belt with shorts and slacks.

On Mass days do not wear shorts if your class is responsible for liturgy.

Dress Options

Girls: Pre-K - 4th

Boys: Pre-K - 6th

Girls: 5th - 6th

Sweatshirts

Gray sweatshirts with emblem or navy sweaters are the only outerwear allowed in the classroom. Navy sweaters from Larose may also be worn. Please label all sweatshirts.

Socks

Solid white or solid navy blue, no insignias, must be worn with all shoes. The socks are to be visible above the shoes. Crew socks, knee socks or tights may be worn. All girls may wear navy or white tights.

Shoes

Tennis shoes must be mainly white, blue or black. No sandals or open toe or open heel shoes may be worn at any time. Boots, platform shoes, heels above 2 inches, clogs, cleats, cowboy boots, or extreme shoe fashions are not acceptable.

Accessories

Bracelets or costume jewelry may not be worn. Christian religious crosses or medals may be worn. Judgment of acceptability of jewelry is to be made by faculty and/or administration if necessary. Girls may wear one pair of earrings in the lower ear lobe only. Earrings that dangle past the earlobe will not be allowed. Jewelry in cartilage piercing is not allowed. Boys may not wear earrings. OLF will not be responsible for loss or damage to jewelry.

Make-up

No make-up is allowed for grades Pre-K through 5th. Only clear (colorless) nail polish is acceptable. Light make-up and clear polish only are allowed in 6th grade.

Other

No sunglasses, hats or caps will be worn inside the building. Absolutely no tattoos or pierced rings on any part of the body except the bottom lobe of ears of girls.

Scouts

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are allowed to wear their full uniform on meeting days.

T-shirts

"T-shirt days" mean: school spirit shirt and uniform shorts or slacks. Other types of short are not acceptable.

Free Dress Days

"Free Dress Day" means that any clothing appropriate for Catholic students, dress or casual, may be worn. No cut-off shorts, tank tops, midriff shirts, or bare shoulders will be allowed. Capri pants for girls are acceptable. No sandals, open toe, or open heel shoes may be worn at any time.

Hair Styles

Girls: The hairstyle should be neat at all times and not worn in an extreme fashion. The hair should be out of the eyes and it should not be dyed to change the natural color.

Boys: The hairstyle should be neat and in a non-extreme style and should never touch the collar. The hair should not be dyed to change the natural color. There shall not be any designs shaved into the scalp.
